REVIEW: Aldi Mamia Baby Wipes

As a member of the Netmums product trial panel, I was sent some Aldi Mamia Baby Wipes to test. These are the answers to the questions they asked me.

Are you a first time or subsequent mum?
First time

Are you an Aldi shopper?
Not a regular one, no

What baby wipes do you currently use?
Whatever is on offer. At the moment we have Huggies, Johnsons, Asda’s little angels and Tesco fragrance free ones about.

What did you think to the Mamia Baby Wipes performance?
They were OK. They cleaned off baby mess but didn’t clean off things like sun lotion residue or bug repellent. However, they were gentle enough to use on my stoma (I’m only supposed to use gauze as the skin is so sensitive but the other wipes we have are ok to use on it in an emergency) which is a big plus for me.

What did you think to the packaging?
The clip doesn’t close properly so the top couple of wipes dry out. This is annoying.

What do you think to the price of the wipes? 80 wipes– 79p
That’s about the average price I pay for wipes.

Could you let us know if you usually buy own brand products or mainly brand products for your baby and would you mind telling us why?
I buy what is on offer or what I have coupons for. I think my favourites are Tesco and Asda own brand: they come out of the packet nicely and don’t bring half the other wipes with them! They’re a good price when on offer so we stock up.

Would you buy these wipes again?
If there were no other ones then yes, but I’d prefer not to.

Bottom line: I would not recommend these to a friend.

REVIEW: Right Guard: Xtreme Invisible

So as a Bzz Agent I was sent the new aerosol anti-perspirant deodorantrgw_xtreme_invi_spray_160x350 from Right Guard: Xtreme Invisible.  I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s not bad!

It’s a bit sticky and I’ve discovered if you press the button in fully it’s like squirting a fire extinguisher in your armpit.  Best to apply it in a few short shallow bursts.

It’s been really hot recently and it doesn’t keep me dry but it does keep me smelling nice.  TMI? Haha.  But it didn’t gunge up my top like some deodorants do when they melt.

It also doesn’t mess up your clothes: I put a new black top on the other day and the deodorant was still a bit wet and it didn’t leave white marks!  Now that’s a winner.

Using a black piece of card I did a comparison.  You can see that the two other aerosols leave white marks on the card.  You can also see that the Right Guard one sprayed a bit out of control!

It’s not *brilliant* as I still sweat but it’s the best deodorant I’ve come across so far.  Go check it out!

REVIEW: Nivea in shower body moisturiser

As a member of the Netmums product trial panel, I was sent the new Nivea In shower Body Moisturiser for dry skin. It is one of the best products I have ever used!

This stuff is quick and easy to use: after washing in the shower, just put it on then rinse it off. As I rarely have time to use regular moisturiser this product is a massive time saver, as you don’t have to wait for it to dry before carrying on getting ready. I have ridiculous skin that dries out easily and has bad reactions to almost everything but not this: it leaves my skin feeling smooth and healthy, and without any of that gross residue that most moisturisers leave you with. And as it is in the shower it gets used on the whole house, even the grumpy anti-girly products husband! It’s excellent to use on a toddler too – she hates creams and stuff but LOVES baths so this is a winner.

I have noticed that it makes the bath a lot more slippery so be careful people. But the benefits completely outweigh this. I highly recommend this product to anyone, and I will definitely buy this again, in fact, I have stocked up while it’s on offer!

Overview of what's in the case

Overview of what’s in the case

Although I’ve had to take out the tape as BG and I are allergic to Micropore. Sometimes we’re allergic to plasters too but these are fine and have pretty patterns on!

There is a bit more space to put some extra bits in: I’ve added some extra plasters and a small tube of Savlon. Baby Aid also sell refill packs for this case should you need it.

This is a must have for any parent! I keep this little guy in my car as I normally have my car with me all the time and you never know when an accident will occur! Luckily I’ve not had to use it yet but BG has recently started walking so I see scraped hands and knees in our future! This, along with basic first aid knowledge, means I definitely feel more comfortable taking her out now.

REVIEW: Tesco Bakery Triple Chocolate Cookies

I’m a Bzz Agent, and was sent vouchers for Tesco Bakery cookies.  If you’d like a voucher let me know 🙂

I never usually pick triple chocolate things as they’re usually too chocolaty for me and make me feel sick after a few bites.  I don’t know why I picked these up, I just fancied them (I’m on steroids at the moment for my Crohn’s, and some days I can eat ANYTHING, even if I don’t like it).

Husband, BG and I really enjoyed these cookies.  I only gave BG about a fifth of one because she’s too small to have chocolate really (she’s 7 months now and most parents would throw stones at me if they knew she’d had cookie!).  It didn’t take long to melt in her hand which then got smeared on her face, in her hair, the sofa, me…  But she loved it!  It was soft enough for her to chew with her big gums without any trouble.  And they didn’t stain her clothes.  Everyone washed it down with a substantial amount of milk.  RESULT.

Will buy them again, but not today.  Too many sugars for regular consumption.

REVIEW: Toni&Guy Casual Sea Salt Texturising Spray

Being a Bzz Agent, I was sent this to try.  Having naturally wavy hair I like to use products that are appropriate for wavy hair and this stuff IS.  I put about 20 squirts through damp hair and let it dry naturally.  It dried nicely, my hair felt soft and wasn’t crunchy or sticky at all.  It also held the waves and there was minimal frizz.  Smells nice too.

Very impressed to have finally found something that’s quick and easy to use that makes my hair nice 😀

REVIEW: Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist

I didn’t straighten my hair very often. Since having a baby in January my thick-slightly-wavy-at-the-back hair broke out into massive all over waves from the root. So, being a busy mom I’ve been chucking mousse onto it after a shower and getting on with stuff. Then I got a bad haircut. It had to be straightened to be cut (BAD sign) so it wasn’t cut for my hair type. When it’s wavy now it looks awful. This means I need to straighten it.

Being a Bzz Agent, I was sent Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist to try and I’m glad I did. Few squirts of this stuff on each layer of hair before straightening works wonders! Three weeks of straightening my hair every day and there’s no visible damage or feel dry/brittle. It smells nice and it’s not too overpowering. It doesn’t leave your hair feeling like it’s coated in stuff and my madly wavy hair can actually stay pretty damn straight most of the day (it’s pretty hot at the moment too).

I’m well pleased with this product, go buy it 😀
